Productized Conference 2019

THE PRODUCT THINKING CONFERENCE

About PRODUCTIZED CONFERENCE 2019

We know that great products are hard to build, and just as difficult to manage. How can you improve your methods to make your processes easier and more efficient? For the fifth year in a row, we are organizing Productized Conference, where we hope to find the answers to this and other questions, with the goal of building better products.

During 2 full days of workshops and talks in English, product related professionals will be able to discuss their perspectives and share insights on how to build great products together with the leading minds in Product Thinking, Product Management, Product Design and Product Experience.

Hi! We are Productized

Productized organizes different activities with the intention to boost the product community around the world. It was created by professionals from the engineering and design space, with a history of co-founding several pioneering projects in Portugal such as TEDx, Beta-i, Startup Weekend and Silicon Valley comes to Lisbon.

We see products as a physical interface to a number of experience levels, with value on its own but also a lever for service, brands and entities trying to craft that user experience.

Innovation will not happen unless, teams are able to connect business model and product strategy thinking with hands-on customer research, solution ideation and agile product development. Within the 4-hour Lean Innovation Dojo you will learn a micro-version of the toolchain that you can use in your daily practice.

Good products require a deep understanding of customers. However, research is traditionally not done by product management but by internal departments or (even worse) external agencies. The workshop will teach how product managers can easily (re)claim their research for the most important part of insights: Qualitative interviews.

In this workshop Alexandra and Annamaria will focus on how to grasp, prioritise and solve user problems. They will present a toolbox that helps gather insights through effective user research, navigate through multiple user information and synthesise the learnings effectively to create a successful product.

Alexandra Lung

In the workshop with René Bastijans and Andrej Balaz, you will learn hands-on how to find out what customers want and how they form their jobs to be done. These insights will prove invaluable for making better product and design decisions and finding growth opportunities for your product or service.

Rene Bastijans

The aim of this workshop is to respond to the growing need of creating new eco- systems of products & services that are deeply integrated in the physical world. Considering human-computer-environment interaction, we will explore how design is capable to blend physical and digital, in order to optimise physical experiences.

Good product management is in high demand. And for good reason. While mantras of “build the right product” are common place, very few companies can successfully put in place modern product management practices that drive business results and optimize for customer success. Jeff Gothelf will change that in this workshop.

Jeff Gothelf

This workshop offers insights for being successful at work, based on Eastern philosophies and martial arts, at the heart of which lies the right balance between reason and intuition. This is crucial in the modern world with flat organisations, where leadership is expected at all levels but seldom given the training and insight to become skilled in this.

Chris Lukassen

We’ll discuss how products tie into the business goals of revenue and growth, so you can communicate effectively with leadership. This course is great for Product Managers and managers of product development teams. Anyone who has aspirations to be a Chief Product Officer one day should be sure not to miss it.

Melissa Perri

In this workshop, participants will be invited to take part in a super sprinted version of the Double-W process, a remote lean branding service developed by With Company, and understand how constant designer-client communication, a framework-based methodology and a thorough end-to-end process are the ingredients to develop a carefully co-created brand, which is encompassed by a bespoke brand strategy and can even influence all aspects of a company, from communication down to product strategy.

Rui Quinta

In this workshop we will explore how to think beyond the screens we know. Consider other options not limited by these formats and discuss how to consider formats often overlooked with a simple adjustment of our mindset.

Many large companies that have been around for decades, or even newer startups that have found some stability, fall into a dangerous place called “The Build Trap”. In this talk Melissa Perri will explain how businesses need to restructure their thinking to focus on finding value for the user through experimentation to achieve business goals : ‘getting out of “The Build Trap” ‘

Melissa Perri

In this talk Tanya Aulachynskaya will tell a story of how she decided to make a change and deploy a new process (and a tool) that helps to organize customer feedback and make product decisions based on that in PandaDoc, a B2B product for sales documents workflow with more that 10K customers worldwide.

Tanya Aulachynskaya

Engineers tend to work bottom-up while designers tend to work top-down, and this can lead to a lot of frustration when collaborating. Here’re some things designers can do to make collaborating with engineers smoother: explain what your design is doing. In this talk Joyce will help the designers understand engineering constraints as early as possible.

Joyce Yan

There is tons of content on A/B testing available, and yet people still manage to mess it up. With pressure to conduct as many experiments as possible and produce positive results, it’s easy for product managers, analysts, and designers to step away from process and ultimately create inefficient, flawed experiments. This talk is a great opportunity to learn from Amber’s failures and successes and benefit from the top ten tips she is going to share with the audience

Amber Van Heck

A real product journey Pivotals went on in 2017 while working with one of our clients at Pivotal Labs Sydney. Amjad was the Product Manager on the product and hope to bring the above learnings to light in a visual manner showing some of our research and iterations along the way.

Amjad Sidqi

As product managers, we often find ourselves in the epicenter of changes. Sometimes we initiate them, sometimes they happen to us. In both cases, the PM has to have the courage and the passion to make the right calls, even if they are widely unpopular or questionable. This presentation will cover the case study of AutoCAD Mobile that had to undergo a monumental strategic shift during its highest business success and describe how our PM team is embracing the change and setting the product up for success in the long term.

Edik Mitelman

At scale, stuff breaks. Aislinn will  share Intercom’s story and how program management has become a critical part of shipping product at scale. She’ll help you understand what it is, why and when you need it and some key takeaways on how to do it.

Aislinn Treacy

When startups first launch, they can make the news with application of cutting edge artificial intelligence (AI) – but convincing users to trust the AI is often another story. There’s often also no process for integrating future AI development into product roadmaps. This session covers three key principles for how design and data science teams can work together better to build greater trust among users.

Crystal C. Yan

‘General Magic’, a new documentary about the spinoff company in the early 1990s, will have one of its first European screenings at Productized 2018. The film captures an insightful story of a group of Apple veterans who invented a smartphone-like device 15 years too early. The product and company failed, but its legacy lives on, and its story is compellingly told in the documentary.
